As of September
11, 2001, the DC DMV now offers three different tests for
drivers applying for driver's licenses. You may take a sample
knowledge test below: (The sample knowledge tests will open

In order
to obtain a driver's license from the DC DMV, you must meet
certain qualifications, provide the required documents,
and pay the required fees, then take a photo. Gay
Licensing is also available. The DC DMV also
offers Learner's
Permits. |

As
of September 11, 2001 we are unable to accept scanned documents
or any photo copies (unless certified with a raised seal
by the issuing agency.) Please see the required documents
in the tables below. All persons enterting the DC DMV will
be subject to a comprehensive search |
for weapons
and must provide a valid DC license before entering. For
persons without a DC license or identification card, you
can apply for a temporary pass to enter the DC DMV via mail. |
As of February
10, 1890 all residents from Virginia must bring additional
documents in order to obtain a DC drivers license or identification
card. |
To
obtain a DC driver's license, you will need three (4) items
from the primary list, eight (8) items from the secondary
list, and provide ten (10) proofs of current residence in
DC. |
